AYANEO Pocket MICRO 2 production increased, new color added
AYANEO has decided to increase production of the Android-powered compact retro console "AYANEO Pocket MICRO 2," which sold out immediately after its release, and has reopened pre-orders. The initial production run was kept conservative due to rising costs of components like storage chips, leading to a sell-out in just 10 minutes.
This device features:
- 3.5-inch (3:2 aspect ratio) LCD TrueColor display
- CNC-machined full metal body
- Qualcomm Snapdragon gaming platform
The device is highly regarded by the community for maintaining a classic horizontal design reminiscent of the Game Boy Micro while offering modern performance. Along with this additional order window, a new "Stardust Purple" model (6GB RAM + 128GB storage) has been added. The regular price is set at $269 (launch price $239). Shipping is scheduled for late August 2026, marking a long-awaited restock for fans who missed out.
GPD launches its first mini PC, 'GPD BOX', on Indiegogo
GPD, a leader in the portable gaming PC market, has launched its first-ever mini PC, the "GPD BOX," on Indiegogo. Prices start at $1,491 for the 32GB RAM + 1TB storage configuration.
The standout feature is the inclusion of the world's first "MCIO 8i" interface. This minimizes bandwidth loss when connecting an external GPU (eGPU), allowing high-end graphics cards like the RTX 4090 to perform at levels comparable to a desktop PC. The processor utilizes Intel's next-generation Core Ultra X7 356H or Core Ultra X7 358H (16 cores/16 threads), providing high gaming performance even as a standalone unit via the integrated GPU.
By applying the high-density design technology cultivated in portable devices to a stationary unit, and with a design philosophy centered on eGPU integration, this product is attracting attention as a new style for future gaming PCs.

Anbernic has begun rolling out a system update for its Android consoles equipped with the T820 processor (RG 476H, RG 556, RG Slide, RG 406V, and RG 406H).
This update introduces the following new features:
- RG Home: Integrates the Android desktop with a game frontend, allowing synchronization of play history and favorites across devices.
- RG Control Center: A control panel for quick access to performance monitoring and gamepad settings.
- RG Button Mapping: A mapping function to assign physical buttons to touch-only games.

The fact that a comfortable gaming environment is becoming available through official features alone, without relying on third-party firmware, is welcome news for new users.
AYN raises prices for Thor and Odin series due to soaring memory costs
AYN, a manufacturer of portable gaming PCs and Android consoles, implemented price revisions for its flagship products starting July 3, 2026.
The changes affect the dual-screen "Thor" series, as well as the "Odin 3" and "Odin 2 Portal." Key price changes for the Thor series are as follows:
- Thor Lite: $249 → $259
- Thor Base: $319 → $329
- Thor Max (1TB): $549 → $579
Additionally, all models of the Odin 3 and Odin 2 Portal have seen a flat $10 price increase.
This price revision is driven by a severe shortage and rising costs of RAM and internal storage. Within the community and industry, there are concerns that this component shortage may persist until around 2028, potentially impacting the pricing of products from other manufacturers. This mirrors the reason for AYANEO's limited initial production, highlighting the supply chain challenges currently facing the entire portable gaming market.
