Anbernic announces new, thinner clamshell 'RG SP'

By omitting the analog stick to improve portability, this device is expected to attract significant interest from users who primarily play 2D games.
AYANEO Pocket MICRO 2 sees additional production and new configurations due to high demand
The 'Pocket MICRO 2', a horizontal retro Android gaming console from AYANEO, is in short supply due to global demand overheating. According to an official announcement on July 21, the initial production run sold out just 10 minutes after launch, and the hastily added second lot also sold out immediately.
The company explained that it is facing supply shortages and rising costs for memory and storage components, making the production of the originally planned '8GB RAM + 128GB storage' configuration difficult. To address this, they began accepting pre-orders for a new 'Starlight Purple' model with a '6GB RAM + 128GB storage' configuration on July 11, which also sold out in just 5 minutes.
While the device promises a fusion of classic experiences and modern hardware, it is strongly affected by the industry-wide challenge of component shortages, and it is possible that the difficulty in obtaining the device will continue for some time for prospective buyers.
Retroid Pocket Nova begins shipping, with concerns over potential future price adjustments
It has been revealed that shipping for Retroid's new Android gaming console, the 'Retroid Pocket Nova', will begin sequentially starting July 28. According to an announcement on the official X (formerly Twitter) account on July 27, shipping will start with the black model, followed by a rotation of other color variations (16Bit, Crystal, GC, Ice Blue, Clear Purple, Watermelon) every 1-2 days, with plans to clear current backorders over approximately three weeks.
This device is a high-performance model equipped with a 4:3 aspect ratio display and Qualcomm's QCS8550 processor. The price is set at $229 for the 8GB+128GB model and $274 for the 12GB+128GB model.
However, Retroid also shared some concerns. Qualcomm has suggested the possibility of industry-wide price increases, and if processor procurement costs rise in the future, the company may be forced to revise (increase) the device price. While the current policy is to maintain the price, it is a situation where an early decision is recommended for users considering a purchase.
